2023 SDG 1.1.5

Padjadjaran University (Unpad) is offering scholarships for students from Palestine to pursue undergraduate studies at Unpad’s Faculty of Medicine. This scholarship is part of a total of 16 scholarships granted to Palestinian students.

“This scholarship program is part of Unpad’s commitment to realising and supporting solidarity programs for Palestine in line with the 1945 Constitution and the Asia-Africa Conference,” said Unpad Rector Tri Hanggono Achmad on Thursday, October 18, 2018.

This commitment was formalised through a Cooperation Agreement signed by Unpad’s Rector and the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, H.E. Zuhair SM. Al Shun, at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta, on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. The agreement provides opportunities for Palestinian students to continue their studies at Unpad.

The cooperation agreement was signed during a bilateral consultation meeting between Indonesia and Palestine, facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia. Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi was present to witness the signing.

In her remarks, Retno stated that Unpad, along with the Indonesian Rectors Forum, has committed to providing scholarships for Palestinian students. “This is one of Indonesia’s efforts to prepare the younger generation of Palestine,” said Retno.

The outcomes of this education are hoped to contribute to the development of Palestine.
