Unpad’s Efforts in Combating Hunger Among Students and Staff: Supporting Nutrition through Competency Building and Free Meals
In its commitment to reducing hunger and supporting the well-being of its academic community, Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) continues to take steps through various initiatives aimed at providing affordable and accessible nutrition. One such effort is tied to the recent event titled “Peningkatan Kompetensi Pendidik dalam Penurunan Prevalansi Stunting” (Enhancing Educator Competence in Reducing Stunting Prevalence). The event emphasized the crucial role of proper nutrition in combating stunting and ensuring that both students and staff have access to nutritious, affordable food on campus.
The event highlighted the university’s collaboration with local health organizations and nutrition experts to provide educational programs aimed at improving dietary habits among students and staff. In addition, Unpad continues to offer affordable meals through its campus cafeterias, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have access to healthy, budget-friendly food options. This is part of the university’s broader initiative to reduce hunger, with plans to expand regular free meal distribution to students in need, further reducing food insecurity within the campus community.
These programs align with SDG criteria 2.2.2, which focuses on reducing hunger by providing accessible, nutritious meals for students and staff. Unpad’s comprehensive approach, including educational interventions, affordable meal options, and free meal programs, showcases its dedication to improving the overall health and nutrition of its academic community, contributing to the fight against stunting and food insecurity.
