[Unpad Media Channel] The student organization International Association of Agricultural Students and Related Sciences (IAAS) LC Universitas Padjadjaran organized a tree planting event titled “Tree Planting Event: Planting Hope, Saving Earth” on the slopes of Mount Geulis, Jatiroke, Jatinangor, on Sunday (April 21, 2024). A total of 83 avocado tree seedlings were planted during the event, which was held in commemoration of International Earth Day.

In this event, IAAS LC Unpad had the opportunity to collaborate with the Forestry Service, the Gunung Geulis Communication Forum, and the Bening Saguling Foundation, a foundation located in West Bandung Regency with a focus on social and environmental issues. Besides celebrating International Earth Day, the event also aimed to encourage the local community, particularly students, to be more environmentally conscious.

The event was recognized by the Forestry Service and the Acting Governor of West Java as a form of appreciation for environmental conservation efforts. Each participant planted two avocado seedlings in the designated area, following guidance on proper planting techniques before starting the planting activity.

In addition to providing oxygen and absorbing carbon dioxide, tree planting offers many other benefits, such as creating habitats for various species and improving air and soil quality. This tree planting activity not only helps green the environment but also supports ecosystem sustainability and human health. It is hoped that this initiative will raise awareness of environmental issues and serve as a reminder for society to always protect and preserve the environment. (release)
